Barry Bonds Witch Hunt

November 17th, 2007

I don’t even know where to begin with how disgusting this indictment of Barry Bonds is by the government. First off this whole Balco thing has been a sham from the start. The government has NO BUSINESS, chasing after sports athletes. Last I checked, sports were an entertainment business. This balco case has always been about going after Bonds ultimately. We spent millions of dollars chasing athletes in the Balco scandal who want to improve their performance. Why should the government get involved in sports and make criminals out of our icons. The whole Balco investigation has ultimately since day one been one entire witch hunt to get Barry Bonds. Does anyone honestly believe that it was worth millions to go after Bonds? They only care about going after the big fish like Bonds, to make Bush happy and to make a name for themselves.

Bonds personal trainer was rotting in jail because the government said they needed him to get a indictment. That was a bald faced lie, since they got the indictment while he was in jail. The evidence they give in the indictment is 2 years old! What jury in San Francisco is going to put Bonds behind jail anyways.

I could care less whether Bonds used performance enhancing drugs. Major League baseball didn’t have it even outlawed until 2003 and baseball didn’t care, including Selig, until the profits arose to record highs nearing NFL levels.  They got what they wanted, baseball was booming again after the 94′ strike.  Only then could they afford to start testing for steroids. Let’s not forget the steroids were being used by pitchers too, to enhance recovery and pitching speed.

I read the two people who will testify against bonds is the one jolted mistress Belle and a business partner and childhood friend who Bonds accused of stealing money from. Seems to me they don’t have a case against bonds. I think you said it best, what jury in S.F is going to convinct bonds? I guess they will have to get people who don’t like baseball or something on that jury.

Good chance he might end up on the A’s, which is where I always thought he would most likely wind up.
